The Situation
The client was a recently appointed general manager in a long established privately owned manufacturing company.
A newly promoted senior manager was challenged by transitioning from a “doer” to managing the team he previously worked with. He recognised that he wasn’t dealing as effectively as he’d hoped with his former peers and his new role had him overworked and stressed, and he needed clarification on how best to manage his experienced team.
The Solution
The first thing we addressed was self-awareness, completing behavioural and motivation assessments and spending several sessions deconstructing the learnings and discussing the likely styles of his team, what their challenges would likely be and how to best communicate with them. We then completed a Feedback Conversations Program, introducing a model that enabled the client to build confidence and a system into the many feedback discussions they held with his project managers. The client then proceeded into our core business coaching program reviewing Clarity, Effectiveness, Growth, Sales, and Leadership.

He established a more structured approach to his leadership, setting up job standards and clear goals for each team member, a new scorecard template, and Key Risk Indicators KRIs and Key Performance Indicators to assess individual business unit performance and assist his leadership performance assessment.”
